There are about 100 houses in the village and nearly all are built of stone- the oldest were built around 1770 but few of these have survived until today, most of the rest were built from 1838 to 1920.

There is no taverna in the village but a small caffenio / shop where Babi´s mother will cook a good Greek meal for you if you order what you want a day in advance.

There is only one main road in the village which is very steep and goes right through to the top and a car can just squeeze by-the rest of the streets are very narrow and you can only walk through them.

The village has only 50 to70 local residents in the winter, rising to around 200 to 250 in the peak summer period- especially in the first two weeks of August.
Easter is a big celebration in Greece with a lot of religious activity on


Good Friday and Saturday reaching a climax at midnight on Saturday with lots of colorful hot air balloons rising from the church roof, symbolizing the holy spirit ascending to the heavens.

There is also an important festivity around the 15 of August where the villagers get together and have a village feast on the square behind the school with live traditional Greek music, dancing and eating and drinking to the early hours of the morning.
